HOURS OF WORK: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  This highly responsible professional position manages the day-to-day operations in an assigned area of the Court Services Division within the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts. This specific position focuses primarily on activities related to circuit court clerks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Discusses overall program/project purpose with Assistant Director to establish framework for short-term and long range planning and development; writes drafts of project/program mission statement, objectives, work plan, time schedule and costs, confirms final plans with Assistant Director. 
  • Reviews contractual agreements and writes periodic reports and memoranda for internal/external entities as necessary.
  • Develops work plans for assigned staff consistent with program objectives and mission; discusses work plans with staff and assigns and schedules work; monitors work to ensure that timelines and milestones are achieved; serves as first line supervisor for other staff assigned to this unit.
  • Functions as administrative support and/or liaison, as needed, for advisory councils and committees to establish consensus regarding issues.
  • Supervises the preparation of data and statistical reports such as those measuring the effectiveness of the program/project.
  • Maintains liaison with other state agencies and national organizations on development, implementation and evaluation of the programs/projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
Bachelor’s degree in court administration, public administration, criminal justice, social services or a related field of study; minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in personnel and program administration required. An advanced degree in law, court administration, public administration, criminal justice, social services, or a related field of study with experience in personnel and program administration is preferred. Relevant experience working in court administration or court related office may substitute for education. Experience working with court case management systems and database applications, especially Microsoft Excel and Access, is required.

Candidate must possess knowledge and understanding of the Illinois court system; working knowledge of various court operations and administrative issues, especially those related to circuit court clerk offices; working knowledge of current supervisory practices; ability to supervise the preparation and delivery of data and statistical reports; ability to perform professional communication with private or public officials; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; and must possess a valid Illinois driver's license and demonstrate proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, as well as maintain a safe driving record.

REQUIREMENTS:  This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time.  This is a normal office working environment requiring telephone usage and the ability to process written documents.  Applicant must have the ability to travel, including in-state and out-of-state overnight stays as required.
