SALARY: $34,911  
HOURS OF WORK: 8:30 a.m. — 5:00 p.m.  

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Data Specialist assists in the processing and maintenance of statistical data maintained by the Probation Services Division of the Administrative Office. Assists Data Manager in developing data, computations and analyses, and drafting research projects. Work involves quality control and reviewing monthly statistical reports.


  • Enters statistical data into multiple databases applying prescribed directions and statistical definitions.
  • Performs quality control and reviews monthly statistical reports for accuracy.
  • Communicates with field staff to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Organizes and maintains statistical data records and paper/electronic filing systems.
  • Compiles data and creates charts and tables for analyses.
  • Prepares annual and trend reports.
  • Creates forms and documents used in the submission of statistical data.
  • Prepares internal, local and statewide statistical reports which may require translating data into a narrative, tabular or graphic format.
  • Prepares correspondence, lists, and reports for dissemination.
  • Maintain user access requirements.
  • Scans documents for archival preservation.
  • Provides administrative support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree in a related field and two or more years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Candidate must possess strong analytical, writing, grammatical, and problem solving skills; ability to plan, organize, implement, and maintain a variety of functions and projects simultaneously and meet required deadlines and schedules; ability to respond to change productively; ability to use initiative and work independently to complete assignments; must be proficient in the use of data analytics software (e.g., SPSS, R, Nvivo), Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Google products (i.e., Sites, Sheets, Docs); ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing; must pay strong attention to detail; and possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time. Applicant must have the ability to file accurately and retrieve files from filing cabinets. The successful candidate will be adept at functioning within an office environment requiring telephone usage and the ability to process written documents.
