Starting at $39,897; salary at time of hire commensurate with experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Administrative Secretary position assists the Research Director and attorneys by intake and tracking of all cases submitted to the Research Department for disposition. The position maintains the internal department docket and records, checks for discrepancies in characterization of a case and associated materials, prepares written and email correspondence, keeps office billing records, and maintains inventory. Work involves performing clerical duties such as operating personal computers, extensive record keeping, answering multiple line telephone, and performing other secretarial duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one (1) year office experience and education equivalent to an associate’s degree is required. Legal background is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel is required.
Successful candidate must possess working knowledge of office procedures and automated office equipment (copier, fax, multiple line telephone, and personal computer), and have knowledge of specialized personal computer applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, or database); must be detail oriented; ability to organize work effectively and meet required deadlines and schedules; ability to supervise office staff, if required by the position; ability to make decisions on established policies/standards and detect deviations from established policies; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to associate with judges, employees, and public in a pleasant, courteous, and helpful manner, and respond to change productively.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is in a professional office working environment and requires telephone usage, the ability to process written documents, and the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
