ESSENTIAL DUTIES: This position supports the Supreme Court Physical Facilities Manager in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Supreme Court Building, ensuring the physical structure and equipment adheres to health and safety standards and that all regulatory compliance requirements are met. This position assists in building operation processes, day-to-day facility management, maintenance projects, as well as oversees the work of vendors, contractors, and staff under the direction of the Supreme Court Physical Facilities Manager.

FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Oversees daily building operations, including scheduling maintenance and repair work, and coordinating with service providers to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Conducts regular inspections and risk assessments of facilities and grounds to identify potential hazards and implement corrective action. Responds to complaints regarding the upkeep and maintenance of the building.
  • Assists in developing and implementing protocols and policies related to building operations and safety.
  • Performs work according to codes and occupational safety standards. Ensures the facility is in compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Assists in managing the facilities budget, including tracking expenses, preparing cost estimates for repairs or upgrades, and ensuring expenditures remain within the allocated funds.
  • Works with department heads to coordinate space planning and office moves to optimize the use of space; moves equipment and supplies, and arranges for lighting, heating, and ventilation needs.
  • Receives and coordinates the receipt of department equipment and supplies.
  • Requisitions necessary equipment, materials, and supplies for maintenance and repairs required for the proper utilization of the facilities; keeps inventory of all equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Assists with supervision and management of maintenance custodians while working multiple shifts and assignments.
  • Develops and implements multiple shift schedules and ensures adequate personnel coverage of all maintenance shifts and assignments.
  • Assists with managerial oversight for maintenance staff and addresses all personnel issues with the Physical Facilities Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A minimum of four years of skilled building maintenance experience required; management and supervisory experience is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to safely operate hand and power tools and equipment used in the electrical and building maintenance trades. Applicant must have the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
