The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services’ (OSPS or Office) is a statewide office that provides pretrial services under the Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185. The Office’s mission is to assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety by ensuring fairness and equality in the pretrial process. OSPS prepares pretrial investigation reports for the courts and supervises individuals released from custody as directed by the court.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Network Cloud Engineer is responsible for installation and configuration of network equipment. This position will ensure connectivity and security between on premises networks and cloud environments. The Network Cloud Engineer assists in the administrative, technical and planning direction for OSPS’ technology needs and works with considerable independence, exercising professional judgment under the general supervision of the Chief Information Officer.
FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Designs, plans, and implements of an effective, secure, and scalable Azure cloud architecture and Microsoft cloud services.
- Configures and installs on-premises servers and network equipment, and monitors all servers and network equipment throughout the OSPS network to ensure acceptable performance.
- Manages integration of cloud and on-premise servers and services, including SQL databases, storage systems, SharePoint, and other services across the enterprise.
- Configures, manages, supports and maintains a high density wired and wireless network infrastructure, utilizing advanced knowledge and expertise in access points, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Provides administration with domain synchronization and migrations from providers.
- Provide network support including escalated issue diagnosis, resolution, remediation, technical maintenance, update activities and analysis.
- Supports and troubleshoots servers, desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals.
- Manages connectivity, including data circuit services, broadband, DSL, and wireless Internet services, including public and private IP networks, local and public DNS administration, and related equipment and connectivity.
- Effectively manage Microsoft OS and software applications, covering deployment, patching, and monitoring of endpoint services.
- Responsible for the monitoring and analysis of Internet applications and connectivity to/from all OSPS offices.
- Assist the CIO in the planning, development, and implementation of the Office’s technology needs including planning, directing, and executing IT operations, information security, and enterprise architecture.
- Provides technical support and guidance to end-users and internal teams, ensuring effective resolution of issues.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
- Travel to local OSPS sites to provide scheduled network maintenance, address outstanding concerns, and aid with project implementations and consulting when appropriate.
- Develops and implements disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to network security.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private organization.
- Three years of hands-on experience in network engineering or related field.
- A valid Illinois Driver’s License, safe driving record and proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, as well as maintain a safe driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field.
- Eight years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private organization.
- Five years of hands-on experience in network engineering or related field.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate
- Other Relevant Networking and/or Cloud Certification (ComptTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Azure fundamentals, etc.)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for extended time periods.
- Professional office working environment requiring telephone usage and ability to process written documents.
- Ability to travel, mostly within Illinois, including overnight stays, as required.
