$62,355 – $78,991; starting salary commensurate with experience
The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services’ (OSPS or Office) is a statewide office that provides pretrial services under the Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185. The Office’s mission is to assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety by ensuring fairness and equality in the pretrial process. OSPS prepares pretrial investigation reports for the courts and supervises individuals released from custody as directed by the court.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Help Desk Technician 1 resolves IT issues, answers questions and diagnoses technology issues for all Office of Statewide Pretrial Services (OSPS) users. The Help Desk Technician 1 works under general supervision of the Chief Information Officer within the Information Technology Division.
FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Provide a central point of contact to resolving IT issues for all Office of Statewide Pretrial Services (OSPS) users.
- Provides front line support, answering questions, problem resolution and diagnosis of technical issues
- Coordinates with other technical staff for resolutions and routes higher level problems for proper resolution
- Onboard all new OSPS staff and assist with the creation and training activities for OSPS users related to IT equipment, mobile devices, telephones, and services.
- Plans and coordinates the training of OSPS personnel in the use of computers, mobile devices, and IT equipment and software products.
- Responsible for tracking, recording, and reporting on all OSPS assets and property control records, including computers, IT equipment, mobile devices, software and telecommunication equipment.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- An Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited university or 4 years equivalent work experience in related field.
- Two years of progressively responsible work experience in a public or private organization.
- One year of experience providing remote software support or customer service.
- A valid Illinois Driver’s License, safe driving record and proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, as well as maintain a safe driving record.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field.
- Two years of experience with computer hardware and software, troubleshooting techniques and Windows operating systems, and networking concepts.
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private organization.
- CompTIA A+ certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for extended time periods.
- Professional office working environment requiring telephone usage and ability to process written documents.
- Ability to travel, mostly within Illinois, including overnight stays, as required.
