The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services’ (OSPS or Office) is a statewide office that provides pretrial services under the Pretrial Services Act, 725 ILCS 185. The Office’s mission is to assist in the administration of justice and promote community safety by ensuring fairness and equality in the pretrial process. OSPS prepares pretrial investigation reports for the courts and supervises individuals released from custody as directed by the court.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Facilities and Logistics Assistant is responsible for performing duties relative to facility and logistical needs of the OSPS. The Facilities and Logistics Assistant works under the general supervision of the Facilities and Logistics Supervisor.

FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Performs routine, preventive and ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting involving electrical, ventilating, air conditioning, security, and carpentry needs at facilities as directed.
  • Assists with logistical and facility questions and refers inquiries/requests to Facilities & Logistics Supervisor.
  • Loads/unloads office supplies and small furniture/equipment.
  • Delivers furniture, office, drug testing and electronic monitoring supplies statewide.
  • Assists with scheduling regular evacuation and severe weather drills and keeps current inspections for elevators, fire alarms and sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, and smoke and heat detection devices located in buildings as requested.
  • Assists with OSPS vehicle insurance claims as directed, working with CMS Auto Liability Unit to report any automobile accidents with OSPS vehicles, involving collecting the completed paperwork from the driver and submitting it to CMS, as well as working with car insurance companies to recover damages.
  • Oversees maintenance of OSPS vehicles, including arranges for service appointments, and taking vehicles to appointments as needed.
  • Participates in meetings with vendors and property owners to discuss and formulate equipment configurations and facility needs.
  • Assists with document/mail distribution to both internal and external offices.
  • Assists with internal print/reproduction functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of maintenance work experience preferably associated with the building or mechanical trades.
  • Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License and demonstrate proof of automobile insurance to operate a personal vehicle on state business, as well as maintain a safe driving record.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions including blueprints and other diagrams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Business, Facilities Management or a related field.
  • Five years of maintenance work experience preferably associated with the building or mechanical trades.
  • Experience with specialized computer applications (i.e. security and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to frequently and safely move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and load, unload, and relocate furniture and other supplies.
  • Ability to sit for extended time periods.
  • Professional office working environment requiring telephone usage and ability to process written documents.
  • Ability to travel, mostly within Illinois, including overnight stays, as required.

The required working hours for these positions are: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
