Illinois judges are increasingly being recognized for their dedicated work in courtrooms throughout the state. Here are some of the recent honors received by Illinois judges:

  • McHenry County Circuit Judge Justin Hansen was honored this month as the recipient of “Civics Education Award’ by the Illinois State Bar Association. The Civics Education Award is given to honor those who have helped educate the public about civics and the legal system. Along with in-person school visits, Judge Hansen has presented a ‘virtual’ program about how the court system operated remotely to the McHenry County Big Brothers and Big Sisters and to CASA of McHenry County.
  • Lake County Associate Judge Elizabeth Rochford was honored this month as a ‘Carole K. Bellows Woman of Influence’ for 2020 by the Illinois State Bar Association. This award is given annually by the ISBA to individuals who raise awareness of the unmet legal needs of women, advocate for action on women’s issues, or promote involvement by women in the legal profession, and Judge Rochford received the award for an individual with more than 10 years of legal experience.
