Gervais appointed Circuit Judge in the 22nd Circuit

The Illinois Supreme Court has appointed David R. Gervais as Circuit Judge, at Large, in the 22nd Judicial Circuit. The appointment takes effect February 5, 2018, and will conclude on December 7, 2020.

Gervais was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Michael T. Caldwell who is retiring from judicial office on December 31, 2017.

Gervais has led the Law Offices of David R. Gervais for the last 26 years where he has managed a legal staff providing services including matrimonial, felony criminal, misdemeanor traffic, probate, estate planning, business planning and commercial litigation. He was previously an associate and partner at Johnson, Gervais and Associates from 1986 to 1991. He has presented to high schools for Law Day and to area churches on estate planning and probate law.

Gervais earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the Bucknell University and his juris doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law.

He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the McHenry County Bar Association. He is a contributor to Prairie State Legal Aid and serves on the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, the McHenry County Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Crystal Lake Historical Society Board, and the Northern Illinois Beekeeping Association.
