Upcoming Law Student Leaders Access to Justice Summit

2/26/2025

By: Kathryn Hensley, Supervising Senior Program Manager, Access to Justice Division

The Illinois Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission’s biennial Law Student Leaders Access to Justice Summit is being hosted by Jenner and Block on Friday, February 28, 2025. The overarching goal of the Summit is to cultivate an awareness of issues prohibiting low-income Illinois residents from accessing civil legal services and, to that end, fostering a lifelong commitment to ending this disparity through pro bono work.

The ATJ Commission hosts six law students and faculty from each of the state's nine law schools, Illinois JusticeCorps Fellows, and Illinois Court Help Guides for a day focused on educating and inspiring future leaders on how they can help provide equal access to our justice system in their respective career paths. The overarching goal for this one-day Summit is to cultivate an awareness of issues prohibiting many low-income Illinois residents from accessing civil legal services and, to that end, fostering a lifelong commitment to ending this disparity through pro bono work or through various career paths.

The agenda includes presentations and panelists from numerous organizations and firms, a networking lunch with judges and lawyers, and an self-represented litigant simulation. You can find more information on the Law Summit, including the agenda, here.
